Easy on the eyes --an entertaining space for my new LCD!

Completing the living room look is a new 47" Phllips LCD and a Crate and Barrel entertainment center...the place is finally looking a little more like me!

At least I won't have to squint as much to read the menu/guide channel like on my 27 inch! Definitely easier on the eyes - literally!

FINALLY THE MASTER PIECE HAS ARRIVED!
3 months and $3000 later my new softa/chaise is looking cool and contemporary in my living room! Long wait - but definitely worth it.
Now if I could get home from my work trip in Orlando to enjoy it! I had to leave the day after it arrived for a week! UGH!

Dining in style - makes me think about learning to cook!

Ok - well maybe not..but my new dining discovery does make me think about setting the table at least!
My new purchase the Envelope Table from CB2.com extends to seat 10 and allows for the two leaves to be stashed away inside.
The purchase stems from the crazy idea that I should host this year's Xmas dinner at my house -- hence the need for a place for guest to sit and actually eat. So now I have the table but I haven't found chairs that I LOVE yet so maybe by December I'll have something! The worst part is that I'll have to figure out a menu and cook - oh well at least my family will be sitting at a cool table!

Just wanted to share the coffee table, must-have of any modern design enthusiast - Dwell magazine. I've subscribed for over two years and still can't wait for the next issue!

Starting Fresh --first modern furniture purchases on my own!

Currently living in a cookie-cutter home, there is little room to distinguish one house from the next on the outside. On the interior there is room to do a few things - but once again, I had to adhere to builders' contraints and strict neighborhood convenents. I have done only the basics in modification with paint color and innovative thinking, as I don't plan to stay here much longer, and want it to be any easy sell when I put it on the market. So for me, starting fresh in my quest for a modern space I thought I will purchase a few nice pieces of furniture each year that I love instead of just filling up my house with pieces just to have (which is currently what I own). I really want to my home to be a reflection of me and my personality and my very favorite things.

My first piece I bough in 2006 - Nelson Bench (a steal at Modern Collections)!

Research Road!

So for the most part, everytime I find something I have to have - which by the way is often - I tear it out and stick in my big WISH LIST binder! After gazillions of magazines like Dwell, Metropolitian Home, Innovative Home etc...... and catalogs from every cool place around, I'm getting a pretty good stack of ideas accumulating!

Besides print research I am always bookmarking the sites that I frequent on a daily basis - this blog will be a great place to share those with others. I figured this blog will document my search in obtaining ideas/pieces for MY PERFECT MODERN SPACE - and perhaps along the way, give you ideas for yours!
